About Maison Hennessy
For more than 250 years, Maison Hennessy has been producing one-of-a-kind cognacs in the heart of its native Charente region in France. Created in 1765, the Hennessy brand was born out of the vision of one man, Richard Hennessy, an Irish officer enlisted in Louis XV’s army, who very quickly foresaw the extraordinary international commercial potential of Cognac’s eaux-de-vie and set up his own wine merchant business. Today, the Maison offers excellence in every bottle, in more than 160 countries.
Today, Hennessy is the unrivalled cognac market leader and the world leading premium spirits brand. A crown jewel of the Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy group (LMVH), Hennessy is a major contributor to French international trade – exporting almost all of its production – and an ambassador of French art de vivre the world over.
